The best thing about the farm is being outside. The worst is being dirty all the time. The best thing about Hawaii is how breathtakingly beautiful it is. In the middle of the ocean. The worst thing about Hawaii is that everything is expensive. And you’re in the middle of the ocean. The other best thing about the farm is the food. All the elements are intense out here and I swear all those forces blast the food with juicy flavor. The over achieving sun, dirt and air charge the food with a glorious energy you can feel inside your body. It really is completely mind blowing how the Earth provides for us. It’s even crazier companies try to do the same in a factory.
In addition to the food, another thing that feels like it’s been shot up with steroids is the night sky. Wow the stars and moon are so bright you’ll never need a flashlight in the dead of night. How beautiful it is to observe those pearly guardian angel stars – it’s no wonder so many of us think we’re all alone without anyone watching over us. They’re usually all covered up! No wonder it’s so hard to believe.

So much to be said about the magic of the moon here. So bright, so beautiful. So full of mighty awe. The moon said, come see me and i’ll help you. She said, the reason you’re protected (and blessed) is because your ancestors believe in you. One within. Relation to the moon is relation to all. Dedication to the moon is dedication to yourself. None of this information is new but wow could i hear her. She is so unapologetic. In every form, crescent, waxing, waning, full – she just is. No mistaking, definitely no apologies. Shining. Changing everyday yet just is.
Time moves differently here. Because everyone (besides the tourists) are so laid back, the time stretches and lengthens out. Breathing is a bit more noticeable, because everyone is not in such a goddamn hurry all the time. When I’m meditating I can hear my heartbeat and my belly can sync with the ocean rhythm. The wind is the busiest one on the island. No space is left untouched – the breeze penetrates every corner gently, yet firmly, reminding you that you’re not shit and there’s nowhere to hide. The fire (volcano) is what created these islands so it is seeped into every molecule of the land. The fire in Hawaii, especially Kaua’i, is extremely available. Ready to assist your heart in whatever ignites it. The land does not stop giving. Your relationship with the land does not stop moving, it’s a constant dance and groove, ebbing and flowing but never ever stopping.
In Michigan the land does not stop giving as well. But it feels there is less room for the land – human behavior trumps the Earth that tries to speak to us. In the winter the Earth begs us to slow down yet everyone expects the same pace and results from you. I know that I could dance with Michigan and it would tell me deep secrets, the same way Hawaii has. I’m not strong enough to tune out the humanness and I too, trump the land. In Hawaii, she does not tolerate anyone under estimating her power – she will humble you in an instant. She will not allow you to forget your place (and lack of power).
